State Unveils New ‘College for West Virginia’ Expanded Online Tools to Help Students Apply to College

CHARLESTON, W.Va (WDTV) — West Virginia’s Central Office of Higher Education is expanding and revamping its online presence to make it easier for students and families to apply for financial aid and college planning programs.

The Higher Education Policy Commission (Commission) and the Community and Technical College System (CTCS) of West Virginia unveiled “College for West Virginia” on Wednesday as a new and expanded resource for West Virginians planning for their post-secondary education. This expansion represents a rebranding of, the state’s college and career planning web portal, formerly known as the College Foundation of West Virginia, and the launch of its sister site, CollegeforWV. com, which focuses on state-sponsored financial services. aid programs that total more than $100 million in scholarships and grants for West Virginians each year.

Together, these sites redefine CFWV as the “College for West Virginia,” home to the state’s free resources for college planning, application, and payment.

At, students can always access an array of resources designed to help them plan for college and careers in West Virginia. With planning calendars for high schools, ways to explore training and credentials available in the state, free ACT and SAT test prep, opportunities to apply to colleges, and career-matching tools, this site remains the centerpiece of post-secondary planning in the state. Complementing these offerings, is the new home for state-level financial aid programs – including the Promise Scholarship, Higher Education Grants Program, West Virginia Invests, and much more. .
